First Tae Kwon Do Headquarters in June 2018

Recently, I had the opportunity to visit First Tae Kwon Do headquarters in Adelaide, South Australia. The hall had challenging lighting—strong daylight from outside was mixed with at least two different types of interior lighting. In a few of the photographs below, the subjects are clearly backlit, and it took significant exposure compensation in post-processing to create workable images. Thanks to the incredible flexibility of RAW images and DxO Optics Pro, it was largely a matter of choosing a base compensation to start with, and then making adjustments from there.

From a photographic point of view, one of the boons of shooting traditional martial arts is that every frame has someone in a white uniform in it—and that, of course, makes it much easier to achieve good exposure and good colour balance in the final image.
