Nikon D610 on special

In today’s issue of The West Australian, Camera Electronic has advertised the Nikon D610 full frame body and Nikkor AF-S 50 mm f/1.8 prime lens for $1,786. This is a few hundred dollars less than I see at most other Perth retailers on-line, and is a very good price if you’re looking to get into full frame photography. The offer is valid till the end of June 2015, or while stocks last.

If your budget can cover this, a D610 and 50 mm lens would make an excellent kit for low light action photography, and give you room to expand in the future (e.g., adding a telephoto zoom lens). Less than a decade ago, I paid more than this for a mid-range consumer DSLR and kit lens (much less capable than the combination above) … we’ve come a long way in terms of both capability and value for money with DSLRs.
